While the Police in India have been trying their best to stop people from breaking quarantine laws after the government announced a nationwide lockdown of 1.3 billion people to contain the spread of the coronavirus, a village in Indonesia has 'ghosts' to spook the people who step put out of house unnecessarily.
Well, it's an unconventional initiative of a group of the Indonesian police to promote social distancing as the coronavirus spreads in a village named Kepuh. As you know, the concept of "ghosts" remains an age-old superstition that will still work among the public.
A village youth group in the Java island, coordinated with the police and deployed a cast of volunteers to dress up as ghosts and patrol the street. Wrapped in white shrouds with powdered faces and kohl-rimmed eyes, the ghostly figures are popularised as "pocong", meaning trapped souls of the dead. Well, the supernatural strategy happens to be working, with villagers shutting themselves at home in fright.
There are now 4,241 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Indonesia, and 373 deaths, with fears the numbers will rise significantly.
