Sumit's wife Anshu Bala(32) kids Prathmesh(5) Arav(4) and Akriti(4)

A man from Ghaziabad’s Indirapuram had killed his wife and three children, following which he posted a confession video of the murders in a family group on WhatsApp.

34-year-old Sumit Kumar is a software-engineer from Indirapuram who resided with his 32-year-old wife Anshu, their 5-year-old son Prathmesh and their 4-year-old twins Aarav and Aakriti. The couple, who got married in 2011, had been having a peaceful life until Sumit lost his job in December last year. According to his brother-in-law, he had resorted to smoking cigarettes and his behaviour had started to become erratic. In the confession video he posted in the WhatsApp group, Sumit admitted that he had poisoned his wife and children and later stabbed them when they were unconscious as he couldn’t bear the financial burden anymore.

Following a complaint from the victim’s brother, the accused was arrested and booked under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code. The bodies of the four victims have been sent for post-mortem.
