The technology is evolving where in the future the earth's climate can be controlled by satellites. What if those mammoth equipment in space malfunction, you get storms and tsunamis of extreme proportions or the desert of Afghanistan will become a land of ice and the people will freeze to death. This is the premise of the new movie 'Geostorm' directed and co-written by Dean Devlin who also co-wrote and produced the 1996 blockbuster 'Independence Day' along with Roland Emmerich.
'Geostorm' has '300''s Gerald Butler as Jacob Lawson who travels to space to repair the satellites but discovers that the malfunction was deliberate which forces him to take the extreme step of kidnapping the American President himself played by Andy Garcia. Jim Sturgess, Ed Harris and Abbie Cornish among others are the ensemble cast. The CG extravaganza hits the screens worldwide including in IMAX on October 20th 2017. Here is the breathtaking official trailer.
