While most of the youngsters nowadays having become increasingly sedentary, here’s an old man’s story that might inspire us to take up our running shoes that has been gaining dust at the shoe rack.
George Corones is a 99 year old swimmer belonging to Australia. 99 year old, he swims- hold your breath. Here’s the interesting part- George broke the world record for the fastest time in the 50 m race for the 100-104 year category. George completed the distance in 56.12 seconds swimming past the previous set record of 1:16.92 set by Canada’s Jaring Timmerman in 2009.
Another interesting tidbit: George only took up swimming seriously at the age of 80! He will be celebrating his 100th birthday coming April.
