Genius Ilayaraja is now Padma Vibhushan

Maestro Ilayaraja, one of the greatest musical geniuses the country has ever produced, has been conferred with Padma Vibhushan by the Government of India. The announcement was made on the eve of Republic Day.

Ilayaraja, aged 74, is a multi-faceted personality. A music director and composer par excellence, he is also a lyricist, singer, conductor, instrumentalist and film producer.

Known for some of the most timeless film songs in Tamil and Telugu, there is no genre he hasn't shined in. In his illustrious career spanning decades, the Maestro has inspired thousands of singers and lovers of music.

IndiaGlitz celebrates the honour bestowed on one of the greatest living geniuses.
