The Andhra Pradesh High Court has directed Genelia D' Souza to appear before it personally or through her lawyer in a cheating case related to a real estate company for which she was the brand ambassador.
Justice KC Bhanu admitted the criminal petition Wednesday and posted the hearing to April 25. Petitioner Chatta Tirupathaiah alleged in his plea that the actress represented the company, Anjaniputra Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, as its brand ambassador and was also one of its directors.
He alleged that police had not complied with a lower court's order to file a case against Genelia and five directors of the company for defaulting on giving him possession of the duplex house he bought.
Tirupatiah stated that the real estate firm cheated several people like him and requested the court to take appropriate action. The judge, while admitting the criminal petition, gave the actress a week's time to file her reply.
