Kamala Selvaraj, the daughter of legendary actor Gemini Ganesan has stated that the Keerthy Suresh starrer 'Nadigaiyar Thilagam' has wrongly showed her father in poor light. In the film it is shown that Gemini was a flop hero while Savithri was successful and he felt egoistic towards her which according to his daughter is false as he was on par with MGR at that time.

Kamala has also denied that Gemini induced Savithri into becoming an alchoholic and in fact according to her Savithri unleashed her dogs on her father to chase him out of the house when he went to see her during the time she was producing and directing 'Praptham'(1971).

'Nadigaiyar Thilagam' directed by Nag Ashwin is dubbed from the Telugu film 'Mahanati' in which Dulquer Salman portrayed Gemini Ganesan while Keerthy Suresh played Savithri to rave reviews.
