Ahead of the release of 'Geetha Govindam' on August 15, director Parusuram talks about the film, the characters of the lead pair, what Bunny has said about the movie, his next project and more.

Why did it take so much time for you to come up with a film after 'Srirastu Subhamastu'?

It has been two years since 'Srirastu Subhamastu' hit the screens.  After the film hit the screens, I went to Allu Aravind garu with the storyline of 'Geetha Govindam'.  He liked it. But it took long to find an actress who can carry the emotion of the film.  After all, the heroine's character in the movie is very strong.  After an 8-month long search, we finally zeroed in on Rashmika Mandanna.

There has been so much change in the way audiences are perceiving Vijay Deverakonda after 'Arjun Reddy'.  Did you make any changes to the script post the release of 'AR'?

'GG' happened before the release of 'AR'.  Vijay Deverakonda was signed up to do this film much before 'AR' changed things.  As such, no changes were made.  He was roped in after 'Pelli Choopulu' became a big hit.  In 'AR', Vijay's character was hard-hitting. Govindam is universally relatable in a different way.  Nobody will remember Vijay's character from 'AR' while watching 'GG'.

The Teaser suggests that the lead characters are interesting. What can we expect from them?

Geetha and Govindam are two contrasting personalities.  How they fall in love with each other is told interestingly.  They face some unique situations.  They also have to transcend problems.  Everybody will connect with some or the other element in the movie. 

Has Allu Arjun watched 'GG'?

He has.  He feels it's going to be a blockbuster. 

What is your upcoming project?

My next film is going to be with Geetha Arts, again.  I will be shooting off some story lines to Allu Aravind garu once I am done with the promotions of 'GG'.  He is one producer who kept faith in me when I was down after the failure of 'Saarocharu'.  I have always been close to Bunny Vas. I will be doing a film for Mythri Movie Makers, too.

I am very happy with the way my films have been received by the audience.  My producers, actors and technicians are happy with their experience of working with me.  As a technician, I can't ask for more.
