Gautham Menon has won the reputation of churning out thrillers that revolve around policemen. The huge success in Khaakha Khaakha and Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu are classic examples to it.

His next Pachai Kili Muthusaram is no cop story but a thriller. Says Gautham, "I love thrillers and hence I did a couple of movies that dealt about honest cops. However my Pachai Kili Muthusaram and Varanam Ayiram are different films".

Pachai Kili Muthusaram is about a couple and the troubles they face in their personal life. Sarath Kumar and Jyothika play the pivotal roles, he says and adds, "Varanam Ayiram is totally different from my earlier films. It throws light on father-son relationship."

Varanam Ayiram has lyrics by Thamarai and music by Harris Jayaraj. Suriya and Gowtham share a special bonding and it was evident in Khaakha Khaakha. Hence expectations are soaring when they unite together again.
