Director Vetrimaran who has given three hits with Dhanush, Pollathavan, Aadukalam and Vada Chennai is ready with their fourth movie together - Asuran. Produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu, the movie is the film version of Poomani's novel Vekkai.

While many of us know of Vetrimaran's excellent film making, very few know that he was once a chain smoker, who had quit the habit. The director had revealed in an interview that he had started smoking when he was 13, and while shooting Pollathavan he had smoked even 170 cigarettes.

Vetrimaran added that, in a way, Gautham Menon had inspired him to quit smoking with his Varanam Aayiram movie, and called it as Gautham Menon's success. Varanam Aayiram had Suriya playing a character who faces losses and resorts to smoking and drugs and later quits to become an army officer.
