Ace director AR Murugadoss is back in film production with the Gautham Karthik starrer 'August 16 1947', directed by NS Ponkumar. Produced by Fox Star Studios, it is a period action entertainer slated to hit the screens worldwide on April 7.

Today, actor Karthi and composer Anirudh launched the official trailer of the movie through Twitter. We can get a brief idea of the premise and characters through the 2-minute-long trailer. The story is set in Sengadu village during the independence era. The protagonist Gautham Karthik is trying to provoke his people to revolt against the cruelty of the Britishers.

Meanwhile, the lord, who rules the region, is planning to keep the village under his slavery despite the British government's order to offer freedom. The production design was impressive along with the background score, visuals and cuts in the trailer. The star cast comprises Gautham Karthik, Pugazh, Revathy Sharma, Richard Ashton, Jason shah, and others.

The technical team includes Sean Roldan as the music composer, Selvakumar SK as the cinematographer, Sudharsan R as the editor and Santhanam T as the art director with Dinesh as the choreographer while the stunts are choreographed by Rajasekhar.
