Director AR Murugadas is turning producer once again for the film "August 16 1947" with Gautham Karthik playing the lead role opposite debutante Revathy as the female lead. The high-octane teaser of this movie was released by Silambarasan yesterday which also marks the 75th Independence day of our Nation.

The 1.47 minutes teaser cut opens with Pugazh reading out the news about India's chances of achieving independence from British control in Tamil Nadu. The teaser then shifts to the blood-wrenching struggles of Indian independence where the Indians are seeded with fear by the British Raj.

The film is expected to trace the events of the pre-independent era and also focus on the physical and emotional damages caused by the British government through violence and injustice. Simbu shared the teaser on his social media platform and wrote, “A fight for freedom, a force against oppression!"

August 16, 1947, is AR Murugadoss’ sixth production venture after he earlier produced films like Engaeyum Eppothum (2011), Vathikuchi (2013), Raja Rani (2013), Maan Karate (2014), and 10 Endrathukulla (2015). The film, which will also star Cooku with Comali fame Pugazh, has music by Sean Roldan and cinematography by Selvakumar.
