Gautam Gambhir has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. He had been an international player for 15 years.
“After more than 15 years of cricket for my country, I want to retire from playing this beautiful game. Two World Cups, highest run getter in the final of both tournaments, it is the stuff that dreams are made of,” the soft-spoken Gambhir has said in a video message.
Reacting to the exit of one of the finest cricketers, Shah Rukh Khan said, "Thank you for the love and leadership, my Captain. You are a special man and may Allah always keep and happy…& u should smile a bit more."
Irfan Pathan said, "Played with all heart with some amazing match winning knocks for the country and I’m sure your journey ahead will be even better. Happy retirement brother."
There is a speculation that his next stop is politics. He could join the BJP. If not LS MP, he could enter the Parliament through the Rajya Sabha route.
