India is gaining traction in the ongoing Commonwealth games in Australia by, yet consistently increasing its medal tally only next to Australia and England in rankings. One thing we were worried was, the gold medal in the boxing flyweight category had been always elusive since Suranjoy Singh’s feat in 2010.
But guess what, here’s the happy news. Our boxer Gaurav Solanki has now clinched the gold in the flyweight event thus becoming only the second Indian to do this. Northern Ireland’s Brenden Irvine had to bow down before Solanki’s dominance in the event.lt’s worth mentioning here that this is India’s second gold in boxing after Mary Kom.
Congrats Gaurav Solanki!
