'Garuda Vega' is a special film for me: Charan Deep

'PSV Garuda Vega 126.18M', directed by Praveen Sattaru, and starring Dr. Rajasekhar in the key role, has been one of the most critically-acclaimed and commercially successful films of the year.

Charan Deep, who has played an interesting role in this action-thriller, in this interview talks about his experience of doing the film, wanting to excel in different roles, and more.

How important is the film's success to you?

As everybody knows, I have played an NIA officer named Venkat Rao in 'PSV Garuda Vega 126.18M'. This is my first positive role since I got an identity for myself in the film industry. And I am glad that I got to essay a full-fledged role in the movie.

'Antham', in which I was seen as a male lead, didn't fetch big results for me. I have been more into playing villainous roles. But 'Garuda Vega' is a full-on positive role.

And the film is doing phenomenally well. Which makes it all the more special for you. Isn't it?

The film has made Rs. 22 Cr in just 10 days. It says a lot about the movie's potential. Even in its third week, the action-thriller is running very well in all segments.

Tell us about your background and why you wanted to be an actor.

After doing my B.Tech and MBA, I entered into films out of interest. I had given a thought to why our directors mostly cast Bollywoodians in negative roles. I realized that it's because of their physique and fitness. I then started training in martial arts and slowly started toning up.

I became an actor with the aim of doing negative roles. But people have accepted me in a positive role in 'Garuda Vega'.

Take us through your journey in films more precisely.

I have done small roles in such films as 'Billa Ranga' and 'Tungabhadra'. But it was Puri Jagannadh garu's 'Loafer' that gave me my first-ever break. I must say that, after that film, it's 'Garuda Vega' which has been the turning point in my career.

What are your upcoming movies?

I am doing a nice role in Mahesh Babu's 'Bharat Ane Nenu'. I am doing a Tamil film starring Siva Karthikeyan. I am also doing another film in Kollywood. 'Sarabha', in which I have played a key role, is readying for a grand release.
