Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' starring Alia Bhatt is one of the most anticipated project. The teaser of the film was released a few weeks ago and Alia Bhatt managed to captivate the audience and left them wanting to witness the movie as soon as possible. However, the film has several obstacles in the path of its release. Soon after the teaser release, director Bhansali tested positive for Covid-19 and couple weeks after him, Alia also tested positive.

Although both of them have recovered from the illness, the release date of 30th July is looking impossible due to the massive rise in the number of Covid-19 cases and Bhansali might have to consider releasing the film digitally. A source close to the development shared, "It’s the way the Covid-19 situation is going. Very soon there may not be any other option left for Bhansali. He is now seriously thinking of going digital with Gangubai Kathiawadi, the 30th July theatrical release now seeming next to impossible."

Since cinemas weren't operational during the lockdown since last year. A lot of films were released digitally to avoid losses incurred by holding the film. So maybe it won't be too bad a decision for Bhansali to release 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' directly on OTT platforms.
