Did Gangai Amaren influence the Latest National Award for Ilaiyaraja?

As Isaignani Ilaiyaraja won his fifth National award and the second for Background score, yesterday a controversy erupted in social media as a section of users pointed out that Raja's younger brother and veteran lyricist, director and actor Gangai Amaren was a member of the Jury panel to adjudge the 63rd National Film Awards.

However a timely clarification from another Panel member is expected to put the controversy into rest.

Noted Bollywood Editor Sanjib Datta who has worked in films like 'Iqbal', 'Mardaani' and 'Ek Hasina Thi' has clarified that Gangai Amaren did not vote for the Best Music Director award category and he was also not part of the final discussion on who is the Best Music Director for Background Score.

Datta, a National Award Jury Panel member has made this clarification in his interview to a English Daily
