'Gandhi My Father' does the Job in Cannes

All these years Anil Kapoor didn't bother to attend the Cannes Film Festival and when he did visit the most famous film festival this year, there was a purpose behind it.

He was there as a producer of his maiden production venture 'Gandhi My Father' which although can't be termed as a blockbuster or a super hit was well received and was a bold attempt in bringing out the odd relationship of Mahtma Gandhi with his eldest son Harilal Gandhi who always thought that it is his greatest disadvantage being born as Bapu's son.

Anil Kapoor now really can be proud of his decision to follow his mind and make a film about the relatively unknown relationship of Mahatma and his son as the rights for releasing the movie in the U.S. have been bought over by the Lionsgate studio in Hollywood.

The deal was made between Eros International, the company which released the movie in India and Lionsgate studio.

The film directed by the theatre director Feroz Abbas Khan featured Darshan Zariwala as Mahtama Gandhi and Akshaye Khanna as his son Harilal Gandhi.

It was released in India in the year 2007.

The star who is often called as the ultimate survivor in Bollywood might have not expected 'Gandhi My Father' to get Lionsgate studio's attention in Cannes.

But now Anil, as your film is getting ready to face the international audience,

Lot more recognitions and unexpected appreciations can come knocking at your door once it hits the theaters in U.S.
