'Game of Thrones' is a world-renowned TV series by HBO. The eight-season show, based on George RR Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" book, garnered high accolades for building a mystical world with phenomenal characters. On Wednesday, HBO disclosed the release date of the most-awaited GOT prequel titled 'House of the Dragon'.

'House of Dragon' is a spin-off series to the 'Game of Thrones' that is set "200 years before the fall of the throne" (GOT ending). The new 10-episode show will be based on George R.R. Martin’s book "Fire & Blood" and will narrate the story of House Targaryen. The first look at the show's primary characters was also revealed by the studio.

'House of the Dragon' will stream online from August 21, 2022. The series stars Paddy Considine as King Viserys Targaryen, Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Emma D'Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Milly Alcock as young Rhaenyra Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Lady Alicent Hightower, Emily Carey portrays young Alicent Hightower, Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon, Eve Best as Princess Rhaenys Velaryon, Rhys Ifans as Ser Otto Hightower, Fabien Frankel as Ser Criston Cole and Sonoya Mizuno as Mysaria.

The prequel will see the existence of 17 dragons while Game of Thrones had only 3 dragons. The spin-off series will also be more accurate to the books than the GOT. House Of the Dragon chronicles the beginning of the end of House Targaryen and the events leading up to the Targaryen civil war, known as the ‘Dance of the Dragons’.
