Barely days after Game of Thrones actor Kristofer Hivju was diagnosed with the novel coronavirus, another actress from the popular series has tested positive for the virus.
Indira Varma, who played the role of Ellaria Sand in the fantasy series, revealed that she has tested positive for the COVID-19 infection two days after Kristofer Hivju's diagnosis. The actress took to social media to mention, "I'm in bed with it and it's not nice. Stay safe and healthy and be kind to your fellow people." Indira was shooting for the modern take of Anton Chekhov's play "The Seagull" in London's West End, alongside Game of Thrones co-star Emilia Clarke when she fell ill. The show has been put on hold currently. She had earlier stated, "So sad our and so many other shows around the world have gone dark affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. We hope to be back soon and urge you all (and the govt) to support us when we do. Phoenix/ Seagull rising from the ashes."
The novel coronavirus, now officially called COVID-19, has claimed the lives of more than 10000 people and infected over 245000 people across the world. The virus was first identified in Wuhan, Hubei Province, in China. As the death toll and overall cases began rising rapidly across the world, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a global health emergency and the outbreak has now been labelled a pandemic.
