It is now Sarath Kumar's turn to don the khaki uniform, after Vikram in Samy and Surya in Khaaka Khaaka. Gambeeram  is laced with stunts, revenge and sacrifice, typical of a movie dealing with the life of a policeman.
Playing the role of an Assistant Commisisoner of Police, Sarath comes across as an honest and dedicated officer, who succeeds in his efforts to  weed out the evil forces from the society. Director Suresh has joined  hands with Sarath Kumar after the success of Arasu.
The hero begins his life as an inspector in a village in Coimbatore, where he saves the life of a Minister and incurs the wrath of a local gangster.

Sarath's wife (debutant Pranathi), dies after delivering a baby girl. Meanwhile, he is posted as Assistant Commissioner of Police in Chennai, where he comes across the same gangster, who had made an attempt on the Minister's life. By then, the gangster goes on to become an Union
Minister. The rest is how Sarath manages to bring to book, the corrupt Union Minister and those having a nexus with him.
Sarath seems to have worked well in terms of shaping his physique for the role. Some of his utterances at politicians seem pre-conceived. Laila plays a police constable. She takes care of Sarath Kumar's daughter and appears in a couple of songs. Vadivelu has tried to evoke laughter,
but does not succeed much. Thanikala Bharani, a Tollywood villain is introduced in the movie.
Kanal Kannan's stunts, Y N Murali's cinematography and V T Vijayan's  editing add strength to the film.
