Ghotala. Ghapla.

They are some of the words that convey the same meaning - An illegal act by a group of people which is against the law of the land but is still practiced within the awareness of the governance. A practice that is encouraged and even nurtured by the government itself.

In short, a SCAM. And in Mumbaiya language......GAFLA!

'Gafla' is a story about big dreams and an aspiration for a better future. A dream that leads a young man to venture on a risky path. An adventure that starts with simple intentions but makes one get caught up in a web crime.

Subodh [Vinod Sherawat, earlier seen in 'Let's Enjoy' and 'Zubeidaa'] is an ambitious young man who is trying to get a foothold for himself in his professional life. With limited resources and opportunities, he continues to struggle hard in his strive for more wealth, power, name and fame. And this struggle of his brings him to the world which promises him a better future ahead, in spite of the fact that it sprayed with uncertainties, apprehensions and sacrifice of emotions, ethics and soul.

He enters the world of STOCK MARKETS and his smart antics, powerful persona and intelligent mind makes him one of the big names in this world.

He does grow big but this journey of his makes him loose some of the people who were closest to him. One of them is Vidya, his love, who remains outside his professional world and clutches to old fashioned views of morality. The other important person is his friend Hari, who was his accomplice in his early days of rise but was left behind.

Subodh finds a companion in the form of Maya, a foreign returned finance expert, who is the most efficient partner he could get. A woman who looks at things from just profit and loss perspective with ethics being kept at the back seat, she is married to Subodh. Also, he has a disciple in the form of Aakash, who admires his guts and vision and follows his footsteps all the way.

Nevertheless Subodh finds his way ahead but was it going to be such an easy ride? Because he does have a contemporary in the form of Karmendra Thakur, a powerful veteran broker who was a pro in this bazaar. Subodh does leave him behind in his rise to success but would Karmendra take it lying down?

Coming with a tagline of "The biggest risk in life... is not taking one", 'Gafla' stars Vinod Sherawat, Shruti Ulfat, Purva Parag, Shakti Singh, Vikram Gokhale, Sameer Hanchate, Brijendra Kala, Gyan Prakash Ghosh, Pramatesh Mehta, Saurabh Dubey, Aditya Lakhia and Mangal Kenkre.

'Gafla' is inspired by the much publicized 'scams' in the Indian stock markets and financial markets. But the matter of the fact is that though they are talked about a lot, their real essence still remains a mystery. With this film producer director Sameer Hanchate attempts at revealing at least a few layers of this 'organized crime' through a narrative that should be comprehended by a simple man.

The film releases all over this Friday i.e. October 6th.
