Gabbar Singh

Far from reviving the memories of that dreadful character from Sholay, Gabbar Singh has become a synonym for sensation.  Harish Shankar is Pawan Kalyan's die-hard fan, importantly a fan of the Pawan of Badri and Khushi.  There lies the redeeming hope for the rest of us.  More than the script, GS seems to be all about heroism, heroism and heroism.  Going by the trend of our times, it could be its biggest strength. It was the unchallenged heroism that catapulted Businessman to the top.

The first true mass entertainer in Pawan's 15-year career has many creditable credits going for it.  For one, it has been adapted from a successful Hindi film.  For another, it has DSP's raunchy musical notes to make even Salman Khan become green with envy.

Set to release on May 9, an ensemble cast is supporting Pawan's efforts here.  If Shruti Hassan is doing her career's most challenging role, yesteryear actress Suhasini is there to lend her support to the drama's emotional quotient.  From Abhimanyu Singh to Ajay and Kota, Brahmi and Ali, there are a whole range of actors to make GS a wholesome entertainer.

Of course, Malaika Arora Khan is lending her midas touch too.  'Kevvu keka' may well become the buzzword for this summer scorching.
