We broke the news earlier to you that veteran Tamil film director G.N. Rangarajan passed away at the age of 90 after a brief age related illness. He is survived by his wife Jakkubai and son G.N.R. Kumaravelan and other family members.
Kamal Haasan who has acted in many films directed by GNR has mourned his death by posting a long emotional statement. The legendary actor turned producer has stated that right from the time he debuted as a hero in films the late filmmaker showered love to him and even a week back he had told his family that he should shave otherwise Kamal will be displeased.
The Ulaganayagan added that GNR was so close to him that he named his house as "Kamal Illam" and whenever he was not at home it meant that he would be at Kamal's Eldams Road residence. He recalled their association in films 'Kalyana Raman', 'Meendum Kokila', 'Kadal Meengal' and 'Ellam Inba Mayam' and praised him as a director who carved his own niche in the industry.
Kamal expressed his deepest condolences to GNR's wife Jakkubai and to his son director GNR Kumaravelan noting that the latter is continuing as a good director much like his father.
