It is reported that Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC) president G.K. Vasan is under immense pressure from the ‘powers-that-be’ in New Delhi to disband his party and ally himself along with his supporters with Tamil superstar Rajinikanth’s proposed political outfit.
Vasan developed misunderstanding with the then Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi a few years back after which he split from the Congres to float/revive TMC which fared poorly during the 2016 Assembly polls in Tamil Nadu as well as the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. Now that Rajini is keen to ‘admit’ volunteers, cadres and leaders into his proposed unnamed political outfit, pressure is said to be applied immensely on Vasan to disband his party and ally with Rajini.
Sources said that the BJP-sponsored forces in Delhi are also trying their best to admit into Rajini’s fold smaller political outfits and cadres of other major parties. Vasan is reportedly reminded of Rajini’s ‘massive help’ to his father G.K. Moopaner in 1996 when he urged people of the State to vote ‘en masse’ for the DMK-Congress combine against the then AIADMK regime to which people responded positively.
Vasan is said to be in consultation with senior party colleagues on Delhi’s ‘advice’ even as it is reported that Vasan has been told to ‘act fast’.
