The government betrays people - Kamal Haasan slams fuel price hike!

Amidst the relaxations announced by the central government and State governments, the Tamil Nadu government has increased the prices of petrol and diesel l by Rs 3.25 and Rs 2.50 per litre as the Value Added Tax (VAT) on fuel was modified.

The VAT structure modification has happened expecting a decrease in selling price of fuel by central government which might affect the revenue to the state governments. With the increase in VAT, Tamil Nadu is expected to earn an additional 250 crores revenue.

Condemning this move by the Tamil Nadu govt, actor and Makkal needhi maiam president Kamal Haasan tweeted, while the prices of fuels have been reduced across the world, the increase in VAT at a time when people are without jobs and income for 40 days is a betrayal done by the government to the people.
