Suresh Gopi is Maliackal Thommi, who becomes the chief minister, quite unexpectedly. He is a timber merchant who ends up at the top post due to convoluted politics of the State

But Anil says the film is a family entertainer and not a political film.

Rashtram is slated for January release.
