Senior DMK leader and the party’s deputy general secretary Durai Murugan has said that ‘friendship’ (with Vaiko) might turn into (electoral) alliance similar to the manner in which ‘love’ (between couples) culminates into ‘marriage’.
DMK is accused of not making ‘enough efforts’ to force the issue to topple the OPS-EPS led AIADMK Govt. which is weakened by the R.K. Nagar by-poll debacle and a seemingly minority status on the floor or the Legislative Assembly. Party’s working president M.K. Stalin had made it clear on more than one occasions that the DMK won’t try to gain a ‘backdoor entry’ to (hold) power in the State. DMK’s inability to take on a weakened AIADMK was revealed by its defeat in R.K. Nagar, analysts say.
Speaking on the reality debate show ‘Agnipareetchai’ on Puthiya Thalaimurai TV, Durai Murugan hoped that the friendly parties (including MDMK) would turn into electoral allies during next year’s Lok Sabha polls as well as during the Assembly polls in the State.
Taking part in the debate, Durai Murugan said that similar to ‘love’ (between couples) turning into marriage, ‘friendship’ (with like-minded parties) might very well turn into (electoral) alliance. He also didn’t seem to attach huge significance to film stars Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth’s proposed political entry.
