A would-be thief came far away from his target when he tried to steal a valuable bicycle worth $1000 from a US home’s garage. But wait, who could have been the unexpected guardian angel? A friendly golden retriever! This darling pet had in mind something else: instead of nabbing the intruder, the golden retriever turned on the charm and demanded belly rubs from him. In this video, which was filmed in less than an hour and soon went viral, as can be heard on it, this thief is showering attention on what seems to be a dog. He says, "I love you," while showing attention to him.
The incident happened on July 15 and took an interesting turn. As the thief was trying to escape, the family dog entered the garage as the thieves were about to exit it. Instead of being hostile, the tail wagging and friendly demeanour of the dog brought forth the thief’s attention, who stopped taking his step as he played and petted the golden retriever. He even complimented the dog as "the coolest dog". In a heartwarming twist, Thief actually suggested that home with him should be set for the dog.
The police also posted the video on Instagram with a view to finding out who was behind it. He is said to be 30 years old and white. The bicycle that was stolen had distinctive "8-ball" logos and patterns worth around $1,300. Immediate users of social media commented upon the incident. One user remarked that perhaps the dog wanted just to check this whole garage out. Other users noted that golden retrievers are naturally friendly and social; they fail not to act suspiciously toward strangers all the time.
This heartwarming story shows how a furry friend's charm has the power to leave an impression, even in unexpected situations. The sweet and welcoming demeanour of this golden retriever left a lasting imprint that proved once again that dogs really are man's best friend.
