Earlier it was being reported that the Kerala theatrical release rights of Ilayathalapathy Vijay`s Theri` has been bagged by August Cinemas`, which is jointly owned by Arya, Prithiviraj and Santhosh Shivan.

But now it is officially confirmed that Carnival Motion pictures` and Friday Film house` have acquired the Kerala rights of Theri` from producer Kalaippuli S.Thanu for a whopping price. The latter is owned by popular Malayalam actress Sandra Thomas and actor Vijay Babu.

It is worth noting that Theri` Kerala distributors have released some Malayalam movies till date and it is their first Tamil movie.

It is a well known fact that Ilayathalapathy has a very big fan base in Kerala than any other Tamil actor and the Atlee directorial is expected to break all the Box Office records in God`s own country.
