This Friday is also not an exciting weekend for movie lovers but for one movie. All the films releasing this weekend were in the cans for long period and their sudden releases is surprising. February month may be the starter for the year as a few anticipated films are lined up for release.

Five films are releasing this weekend out of which three are straight films and two are dubbed ones. Pathinaru, Vaada Poda Nanbargal and Pazhagiyathe Pirivatharka are for the first list. Idhu Enga Boomi and the Green Hornet are for the later.

‘Pathinaru’ is a romantic entertainer produced by Passion Movie Makers and has Mirchi Shiva and Madhushalini in lead roles. It is directed by D Sabapathy. The film was lying in the cans for some time and suddenly woke up for release in a matter of weeks.

The story line is this. Shiva and Madhu love each other and when their love fails to get parental consent the young pair decides to elope. When the parents come to know of that they relent and accept but not before testing the lovers for their determination in an inimitable way.

The title may give an impression that this is a candy floss love story. But it is said to be an unusual romantic story with a different angle and a unique twist.

Kalaipuli S Thanu is releasing the film and that shows ‘Pathinaru’ is not a run of the mill stuff. More over there is the biggest attraction of Yuvan Shankar Raja who has created some signature tunes for the film.

‘Vaada Poda Nanbargal’, as the title suggests is about friendship and of course romance. It stars Nandha of ‘Pugaippadam’ fame, Shaan of Inidhu Inidhu fame and newcomer Yashica from Bangalore in main roles. Nizhalgal Ravi, Srinath and others support them. Yashica has done a few films in Kannada and Telugu. With two boys and one girl, you can expect a triangular romance also.

Produced by Singapore Arumaichandran under the banner Eight Point Entertainment, ‘Vaada Poda Nanbargal’ is directed by debutante Manigai. The music director Siddharth is also a new. This film was in the news recently when the censor board objected to a song that talks about the plights of Tamils who leave their home for hard labour to states like Rajastan.

'Pazhagiyathe Pirivatharka' is a film by freshers. It is about a psycho lover who is deserted by his love. Selvam and Tharuna play the lead roles in a film directed by S A Selvakumar. Bhagya is the music director. With all rank new comers in charge and no hype at all you don’t expect anything big and rich out of this film.

‘Idhu Enga Boomi’ is the Tamil dubbed version of 2008 Telugu film ‘Victory’. The film is about how a responsible youngster takes on the dreaded Land Mafia and throws light on land grabbing. It stars Nitin Kumar Reddy, Mamta Mohandas, Sindhu Tolani and Shashank in lead roles. Ravi. C. Kumar is the director.

The Green Hornet is a superhero action-comedy film, based on the character of the same name that has appeared in comic books. Directed by Michel Gondry, the film stars Seth Rogen, Cameron Diaz and others. This film also comes in 3D version.

Next week ‘Yudham Sei’ and ‘Thoonga Nagaram’ is expected to wake up the market.
