Akshay Kumar is making a bold move by taking the films back to theatres. No mainstream movie has been released theatrically since the Covid-19 outbreak and Akshay is going to change that with his upcoming film 'Bell Bottom'. The film is going to release on 19th of August. However, makers can take a sigh of slight relief as the film won't be facing any competition on the box office.
Earlier, 'Bell Bottom' was going to clash with Vin Diesel's 'Fast and Furious 9' but now the Hollywood action drama has postponed the release to early September which leaves no competition for Akshay's 'Bell Bottom'.
A trade source told Bollywood Hungama, "It’s a good call as theatres in most states are running at 50% capacity. On top of that, a night curfew has been imposed as well in many parts of the country. Clashing two big budget mass entertainers wouldn’t have done justice to the potential of either of the films with these restrictions. The single screen theatres especially were worried as they might have to play only one film."
The source concluded, "It remains to be seen if cinemas do get permission to open in a few days or does it open directly in the first week in Maharashtra. If the latter happens, then the business of Bellbottom and Chehre will be affected. Fast & Furious 9 might be able to collect better if Maharashtra is operational by September 3.”
