Fresh cases fall below the 3-lakh mark

For the first time in about four weeks, India has logged less than three lakh fresh cases in a 24-hour period. As per the latest health bulletin, the country registered as many as 2,81,386 new cases as of the end of Sunday.
There were 3,78,741 discharges in one day, while deaths were to the tune of 4,106.
Here are the cumulative figures:
Total cases: 2,49,65,463
Total discharges: 2,11,74,076
Death toll: 2,74,390
Active cases: 35,16,997
As many as 18,29,26,460 individuals have been vaccinated so far, with only a small percentage of them fully vaccinated.
Active cases are also falling at a faster rate. As per an analysis by Manindra Agrawal, "The 7-day average of active infections reduced on May 14 for the first time after February 22! An important milestone has been crossed as active infections determine load on health infrastructure."
