Actor Sasikumar has stated that he does not support promoting movies in educational institutions. Speaking at a press meet for his upcoming film “Freedom,” he clarified his personal stance on film marketing in schools and colleges.
Directed by Sathyasiva, “Freedom” is set to release on July 10. The film features Sasikumar in the lead role along with actors Lijo Mol Jose, Sudheesh Nair, Malavika, Bose Venkat, and Ramesh Khanna. According to Sasikumar, the project came together naturally and was not planned in advance. It was initially intended to be released before the movie “Tourist Family.”
Sasikumar revealed that they considered titles like “Sudhandhiram” and “Viduthalai,” but those were already taken. With most distribution and content rights now controlled by OTT platforms, even the film’s title selection was influenced by these companies. Finally, the team settled on the English title “Freedom.”
Speaking about movie promotions, Sasikumar said, “I said no when I was asked if we could promote this movie in educational institutions. I feel those places should remain focused on education. However, the decision ultimately lies with the producers. In the future, even if my films are promoted in such venues, it would be their choice, not mine.”
In his remarks, Sasikumar emphasized prioritizing education and expressed a clear boundary between academics and entertainment promotions.
