Democrat candidate Joe Biden has promised that, if elected the President of the US, he would mandate Covid-19 vaccines be free for all Americans. He said that the policy will be implemented once a safe and effective vaccine is available.
Biden, who is campaigning strongly of late to unseat Donald Trump after the November 3 elections, added that he would be ordering the federal government to procure the vaccine in bulk units so that all Americans get it for free.
Here are three other strategies he has promised to implement to contain the spread of the virus: Making wearing of masks mandatory, devising a national testing strategy co beat the virus, and distributing personal protective equipment on a big scale.
Meanwhile, Trump's supporters on Twitter are claiming that the incumbent administration had announced a plan to make the vaccine free for all Americans in September itself.
In India, the Bihar state unit of the BJP and the AIADMK government in Tamil Nadu have promised free vaccination for all.
