In an unbelievable incident of gigantic fraud, a Hyderabadi woman has been duped of Rs 50 lakh by the employee of a colour lab using SS Rajamouli's image and the craze for 'RRR'.
V Naresh Kumar, who works as an assistant in a colour lab, called up a 73-year-old advocate who lives in Boinpally and told her he is seeking divorce with his wife. Their relationship began as a client-lawyer one. Slowly, Kumar started conning the advocate by telling her that he is one of the producers of the Ram Charan-NTR movie and that he can secure a role for her in it. He called her up as Rajamouli and hoodwinked her by mimicking the director's voice.
Falling for the lies, the advocate started transferring lakhs of rupees to Kumar's bank account in the hope that she will land a role in 'RRR'. Sensing that he has found his prey, Kumar started demanding even more by saying that she should pay a membership fee to become a member of the Movie Artists' Association. This continued for several months. By the end of June, Kumar had successfully amassed Rs 50 lakh (yes, right!) from the victim.
After he stopped answering her calls, the woman got suspicious and approached the police. A Task Force investigated the case and caught Kumar and two other acolytes. They have been arrested.
