After being part of Karan Johar’s My Name Is Khan’, Fox Star Studios will next have a hold on Rohan Sippy’s ‘Dum Maaro Dum’.

Produced by Ramesh Sippy, the film stars Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu, Aditya Panscholi, Pratiek Babbar and Telugu star Rana Dagubati. With Rohan at the helm the film is an action packed thriller which is shot extensively in the scenic locales of Goa.

According to Vijay Singh of CEO Fox Star Studios India, they are all excited for the film for it has an amazing script and it’s going to be a film to watch out for in 2010. While Sanford Panitch, Head of Fox International Production stated, “It is our passion and endeavor to tap into local feature films that are entertaining and appeal to local audiences. We are quite selective about the films and filmmakers that we partner with and we are extremely proud of our association with Rohan and Abhishek, which further reflects our ongoing commitment to partner with the best talent in the local market.”

After ‘Bluffmaster’ this is second film which brings Abhishek and Rohan together. On the actor, the director remarked, “He is a marvelous actor and together we promise to provide edge of the seat excitement to audiences.”

Interestingly, in ‘Dum Maaro Dum’ Abhishek does a la Amitabh Bachchan. Just like how Big B portrayed the role of dedicated police inspector, Abhishek will also follow his suit in the film. Talking about it Rohan revealed, “Dum Maro Dum is set in contemporary Goa and Abhishek is playing a special cop. His character has some similarity to what Mr Bachchan did in ‘Zanjeer’. It has similar shades. Inspector Vijay is one of the iconic characters played by Mr Bachchan and it would be exciting to see how Abhishek plays a role similar to it.”

Looks like the real test starts from this film for Abhishek… Let’s see how he fares with this one…
