In an encounter that broke out between security forces and terrorists in the Lassipora area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district earlier today, four terrorists belonging to the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) group were gunned down.
Upon receiving credible inputs about the presence of terrorists in Pulwama’s Lassipora, a joint team of 44 Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Special Operations Group (SOG) launched a cordon and search operation in the area. Once the security forces got close to the suspects’ hiding spot, the terrorists started a fire at them. The encounter resulted in the elimination of four of the LeT terrorists. Arms and ammunition, including two AK rifles, an SLR, and a pistol, have been recovered from the site.
The bodies of the deceased have been retrieved from the encounter site as well, although their identities are yet to be ascertained. Three army personnel and one policeman, who sustained injuries in the attack, have been shifted to a hospital. A case has been registered and search operation is still underway.
