KT Rama Rao, the Telangana Minister, on Wednesday said that arrangements have been made to ensure that as many as 4 lakh vials of the Remdesivir will be available in the State's government hospitals. The vials are prescribed as a treatment for coronavirus patients.
Taking to Twitter, KTR said that, as directed by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, the government has held discussions with several manufacturers of Remdesivir earlier today. "Have made arrangements for 4 lakh plus vials to be made available across all Govt hospitals within a week," he added.
There has been no shortage of the drug across the country. However, there are distribution-related issues. Earlier today, the Maharashtra Health Minister said that there is no shortage in his State, which has got the maximum number of active coronavirus cases.
Meanwhile, Dr Randeep Guleria of AIIMS recently said that Remdesivir is not a silver bullet and that it doesn't necessarily prevent mortality.
