It was a furore filled social media on Monday morning when an anonymous woman accused TVF's founder of molestation, in a blog post that was published on medium.com.
With over 2 million subscribers for their YouTube channel, TVF (short for TheViralFever) is an online digital entertainment channel that posts comical content on politics, movies and social abstracts particularly geared towards the younger generation viewers. The company is now the hotspot of controversy, after its founder & CEO, Arunabh Kumar has been labelled with sexual harassment accusations.
A woman, who has alleged to be a former employee of TVF, has accused Arunabh of molesting her during her 2 year tenure in the company. Following the post, several women have since come forward , supporting the author's claims as true. This includes Filmmaker Reema Sengupta, who, in an open letter, has revealed that she too was touched inappropriately by Arunabh, during a five-hour shoot for TVF. A few of the company's current employees though, have rubbished the accusations and have claimed TVF to be a safe workplace for women.
CEO Arunabh, too, has rejected the claims as defamatory, and says is open to a police complaint so that he can deal with the issue legally. After the allegations went viral, TVF released an official letter declaring to bring 'severe justice' to the author, to which, netizens highly condemned the tone of the response, causing further controversy.
