Former US President Donald Trump has called for the country's President Joe Biden's resignation over the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan as the Taliban took over the capital city of Kabul on Sunday from the western-backed government.
As the US government prioritized the evacuation of its own citizens from Afghanistan, masses of panicked people were found at the Kabul airport frantically attempting to flee the city. Claiming that the withdrawal of the troops is "one of the greatest defeats in American history," Donald Trump said in his statement, "What Joe Biden has done with Afghanistan is legendary. It will go down as one of the greatest defeats in American history. It is time for Joe Biden to resign in disgrace." Trump also cited five reasons to back his statement.
"Afghanistan crisis, tremendous surge in COVID-19 cases in the US, border "catastrophe", destruction of energy independence, and crippled economy," he listed. 20 years after being overthrown by the US government, the Taliban took control of Kabul yet again on Sunday. Moments before the Taliban entered Kabul and said they sought complete power, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani fled the war-torn country.
