Hours after Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday evening, senior Congress leader and former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has also been tested positive for the deadly virus. Chandy, who was busy these past weeks, campaigning for the Congress party in the state that went to polls on April 6, had been not keeping well since the past two days, party sources said.
The 77-year-old is likely to be shifted to a hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. Chandy contested for assembly polls from Puthupallyin Kottayam, where he is hoping to win for the 12th time.
Meanwhile, Pinarayi Vijayan, who had taken the first dose of the Covid vaccine last month, confirmed his infection in a tweet. "I have been confirmed Covid+ve. Will get treated at the Government Medical College, Kozhikode," he tweeted. Vijayan was shifted to the Kozhikode Medical college from Kannur and his health is reported to be stable.
