In a major embarrassment to the party ahead of the Gujarat Assembly polls which are to be held in a few days’ time, former JD(MLA) Chhottubhai Vasava has expressed fears that BJP president Amit Shah might ‘kill’ him.
Gujarat is to vote in two phases on 09th and 14th December to elect a new Assembly comprising 182 MLAs. In the first phase, 89 constituencies would go to polls on 09th December (next Saturday) whereas polling for the remaining 93 constituencies would be held on 14th December. Counting of votes would be taken up on 18th December along with the counting of votes for the Haryana Assembly polls held last month.
The ruling BJP in the State is making all-out attempts to win a record fifth term in office and has left no stone unturned in its effort. Opposition Congress is also upto the challenge as it hopes to upset the BJP’s applecart this time, taking advantage of people’s dissatisfaction over the BJP’s demonetization drive and GST tax regime.
In the meantime, tribal leader Chottubhai Vasava, a former Janata Dal MLA who aligned with the BJP later but is supporting the Congress this time, has released a video on his Facebook account stating that Shah might get him killed via fake encounter with the help of ‘selective’ police officials. He appealed to the Election Commission to offer him protection.
