Former Indian Idol winner bashes the show

'Indian Idol' is probably the most successful and long running reality show of India. Although the show has a rich history and an iconic place in the Indian television scene but currently it's going through troubles. After the Kishore Kumar's son Amit Kumar bashed the show for its phoniness and sub-par content, a former Indian Idol winner has also criticised the recent seasons and described how things were better way back.

Abhijeet Sawant, the winner of first edition of the singing reality show shared that regional shows have way better content than Indian Idol. He said, "If you look at the regional reality shows, then the audience will hardly know about the background of the contestants. Their focus is only on singing, but in Hindi reality shows, the tragic and sad stories of contestants are redeemed. The focus is only on that."

Sharing an old incident, Abhijeet recalled the time when he messed up the lyrics during a performance and gave up but the judges gave him another chance. He believes that in today's time, this incident will be dramatised for all its worth.
