Former Indian cricketer Murali Vijay announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket a few days ago. The latest is that he is annoyed with an insulting comment made against him during the first Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia and hit back at the commentator on social media.
Australia won the toss and opted to bat first. They lost all the wickets for 177 runs during the second day and India came to bat. Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Indian team, clinched a ton and scored a total of 120 runs in 212 balls. During Rohit's knock on the second day afternoon, Star Sports showed the best conversion rates for Indian batters in Tests at home.
While Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were listed in fourth and fifth places, Murali Vijay topped the list with a 60 percent conversion rate in thirty test matches. One of the commentators and an ex-cricketer Sanjay Majrekar said, "I am surprised to see Murali at the top," on-air after the slide was shown. Murali took to his Twitter page to express his agitation over the comment.
Mural Vijay wrote, "Some Mumbai ex players can never be appreciative of the south ! #showsomelove #equality #fairplayforall @sanjaymanjrekar @BCCI" (sic). He tagged Sanjay Manjrekar's profile and BCCI's official handle as well. This tweet is going viral now. Meanwhile, India won Australia in the first test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy by an innings and 132 runs.
