There was a time when ICICI bank and Chanda Kochhar were inseparable entities, and she was instrumental in taking ICICI to top levels among Indian banks. However, after learning that she had been involved in scams in loans sanctioned, not only was she removed from her CEO role, but has also been ordered to repay the bonuses given.
Chanda Kochhar was appointed as the CEO and Managing director of ICICI bank in 2009, and since then she had played a pivotal role in taking ICICI bank to greater glory, and with her management skills, secured different positions in the list of top 100 powerful women of the world between 2010-2017.
However after being proven guilty in the videocon loans scam, Chanda Kochhar was removed from her role of CEO, and though ICICI had cancelled her appointment as CEO and MD, the organisation has now asked her to return the bonuses and credits obtained via Employee Stock options between 2009-2018 and this bonus amounts to 10 crores, and the ESOP amounts to 343 crores, and ICICI has now ordered Chanda Kochhar to return all of them back.
