Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi has joined hands with director SP Jhananathan, known for directing social message based entertainers like E, Peranmai etc for the movie Laabam. Vijay Sethupathi has previously played one of the leads in SP Jhananathan's Purampokku Engira Pothuvudamai.

This movie Laabam will have Vijay Sethupathi playing a farmers union leader, and Shruthi Haasan plays the female lead as a musician, and the cast also includes Bigg Boss 2 Daniel Pope, actor Kalaiyarasan and Jagapathi Babu will be seen as the villain.

Now the latest addition to the cast is actor Prithvi Pandiarajan, the son of yesteryear hero and director Pandiarajan, who has previously acted in several movies like Kai Vandha Kalai. Laabam is produced by Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren director Aarumuga Kumar and Vijay Sethuapathi together.
