Former England cricketer Grant Hodnett landed himself in trouble after he sent erotic pictures of his ex-girlfriend to her family. Hodnett began stalking his former girlfriend when he learned that she was into the adult film/modelling industry. He then went on to forward 20 pictures of her to her family.

According to prosecutor Lucy Fitch-Adams, "his ex is recovering from alcoholic habits and believes that the cricketer is pushing her towards a mental breakdown. She wants his persistent and unwanted behaviour to stop as it is making her life more and more miserable." However, Hodnett has managed to avoid jail due to a number of positive references and by previous good character. "The defendant accepts that his conduct was not just inappropriate, but totally unacceptable. It was not for him to go on a moral crusade," his lawyer stated. The former cricketer had also branded his ex-girlfriend as a 'liar and psychopath' to her family members. The court apparently heard that the couple indulged in a severe argument after Hodnett got to know about her secret career which eventually led to their breakup.

The Chair magistrate Alan Davies warned Hodnett of major consequences if he were to repeat his crimes. Davies reportedly said to Hodnett, "You came perilously close to custody, but your previous good character has stopped you. If you come before this court in the next two years for any reason, take something with you, as you will be going to custody."
