Rajkumar, a former MLA of the DMK party has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after he was charged guilty of raping and murdering a minor girl in 2012. The special court ordered a 10-year jail term for his associate Jayasankar as well.

Sathya (15) was the daughter of Chandran from the Peermade hill station in Kerala. She used to work at Rajkumar’s house as a domestic servant. Her sudden, untimely demise came as a shock to her family. Rajkumar had claimed that she died due to an illness, but a suspicious Chandran filed a case at the police station, where it was determined that Sathya was actually raped and murdered by the former MLA and his associate.

The Permbalur police have registered a case against Rajkumar and DMK district deputy Jayasankar. Rajkumar was the MLA of Perambalur from 2006 to 2011.
