Former cricketer is Telangana Congress working President

The Congress has on Friday appointed former cricketer and parliamentarian Mohammed Azharuddin as the working president of the Telangana Congress.

Taking to Twitter, Azharuddin said that he is extremely humbled to be appointed as the Working President - TPCC. I would like to thank Sonia Gandhi mam Rahul Gandhi ji for having faith in me. Will work tirelessly towards the uplift and prosperity of Telangana and its people, he added.

As per speculative reports, Azharuddin could contest as MP from Secunderabad in 2019 Lok Sabha elections. He was Moradabad's (in UP) MP in the past. Last elections, he lost from Rajasthan on a Congress ticket.
